Our June meeting was a zoom social. Games were played with prizes given out; a trivia quiz and name that block. There was also a prize for the best decorated hat. The guild members went into smaller break-out rooms for a short time for some “get to know you” conversations and find out some interesting things that others have experienced in their lives. A fabulous way to strengthen friendships and build new ones among our guild. Our programs committee organized a terrific meeting and everyone had a good laugh at some of the topics and discussions that came up. A great way to end our guild year.
The guild doesn’t have meetings during July and August but there will be some Saturday zoom sewing days; dates will be posted in the near future. Our meetings will resume in September and membership renewal information has been sent out. The programs committee have already been booking speakers for the 2021-22 year and the mystery quilt will continue through the summer with the final clue in August.
Thank you to the many guild members who volunteered their time and energy over the 2020-21 year to keep our guild connected with each other and involved with the projects we do. Covid changed how our guild operated but we adapted and were able to enjoy our vibrant community of quilters through facebook and zoom. Many quilts, beads of courage bags, cardiac patient pillows and place mats were sewn to donate to our community. We had sewing days, sew a-longs, social events, meetings and shared photos of completed projects; though we may not have seen each other in person we stayed connected through the internet.
